TOEIC stands for Test of English for International Communication
This course is currently not being offered. When offered it is recommended that students are at an intermediate level or higher to gain entry into this course.
The course covers
- The two skills – listening and reading
- Vocabulary relevant to TOEIC topics
- Discussions on relevant TOECI topics
- Aspects of grammar needed for the TOEIC test
Practice is given with
- A range of TOEIC listening and reading tasks
- A step-by-step approach to building necessary strategies and skills
- Achievable test type tasks will be completed first, leading to more challenging and authentic test types.
- A broad range of language students will face either in the workplace or in the wider community
- Suitable materials selected to meet learners’ needs
- Test tips, relaxation techniques
In addition
- Regular practice tests on the two skills are provided
- These tests are used in class and for homework
- Opportunities for
- Pair work
- Group work
- Individual work
- Authentic TOEIC test papers are used
- Homework covers both skill areas
- Learners are encouraged and taught skills necessary to take charge of their learning
- Assessment criteria and the TOEIC grading system are examined.
