Tauranga

Tauranga is a coastal city with a culture that is friendly and welcoming to the foreign student.  The city, including Mount Maunganui and the surrounding suburbs has a population of around 116,000 people.
The city, because of its size, is able to offer the opportunities of city life on a small scale and still retain the uniqueness of coastal and country living.  The people are friendly and foreign students are warmly welcomed to the community.
Long before the first Europeans arrived in the Bay of Plenty, Maori were drawn to the area by its easy access to the coast and its abundance of food, both on the land and in the sea.
The region has a moderate climate all year round, and is world famous for its production of kiwifruit.  Avocados and citrus also prosper here.  Seasonal jobs abound and many of our students are able to find short term work in the horticultural and agricultural industries.
As Tauranga and Mount Maunganui are popular holiday destinations for the inbound tourist we also offer a vast array of restaurants and bars to cater for evening entertainment.  This has a two-folded advantage for our students as they are not only able to dine and relax at great venues, but often also able to secure holiday jobs at the same time. The extensive harbour, islands and the close proximity to the open sea ensure that seafood is a local specialty on the menu.
For those of you who enjoy swimming, surfing, kayaking and kite-surfing then the opportunity to partake in these activities throughout the year is another great reason to seriously look at Tauranga as the place to come and study.
The Bay of Plenty features a full range of adventure activities like white-water rafting, blokarting, jet-boating and walking on an active volcano at White Island.  The central North Island ski fields are just four hours drive away.
