All tuition and homestay costs should be paid two weeks prior to the commencement of a course to secure your place in the school.
EARLY WITHDRAWAL AND REFUND REQUIREMENT
Where a student enrolled at Bay of Plenty English Language School withdraws from the course, the following minimum refund entitlement will apply:
a)For courses of up to and including four weeks and six days:
i. where a student withdraws within the first two days of the course for which attendance of students at Bay of Plenty English Language School (BOPELS) is required, BOPELS may retain up to 50% of the full amount of any payments made by the student to BOPELS in respect of the course; and must refund the balance to the student; unless
ii. two days constitutes the full amount of tuition paid for by the student, in which case the provider may retain 100% of the payment made in respect of the course.
b) For courses of five weeks or more but less than three months:
i) where a student withdraws within the first five days of the course for which attendance at BOPELS is required, BOPELS may retain up to 25% of the full amount of any payments made by the student to BOPELS in respect of the course; and must refund the balance to the student.
ii) where a student withdraws within the first five days of the course for which attendance of students at BOPELS is required, BOPELS may retain up to 25% of the full amount of any payments made by the student to the PTE in respect of the course: and must refund the balance to the student.
c) For courses of three months or more
i) If the student cancels his/her course booking before the first day of study, your fees will be refunded less 10% or $500.00 (whichever is the lesser amount) for administration expenses.
ii) If the student cancels his/her course during the first eight days of study, course fees will be refunded less 10% or $500.00 (whichever is the lesser amount) for administration expenses.
iii) Except in exceptional circumstances, if the student cancels his/her course after the first eight days of study, it is not the school’s policy to refund course fees.
Exceptional circumstances include returning home in case of: - The student's serious illness - Death or serious illness of a close member of the student's family. Medical evidence must be provided. In these circumstances the school will retain amounts to cover the costs already incurred. The balance of tuition and homestay (if applicable) fees will be refunded.
If the student has studied at this school to prepare for further education in New Zealand and has achieved the required entry level for the next institution earlier than anticipated, the student can discuss with the principal whether any remaining fees can be forwarded to the next institution of learning. This is done on a case by case basis at the discretion of the principal. Administration costs would be deducted.
If Bay of Plenty English Language School is unable to provide a course which has already been booked, or to proceed with a course which has already begun, then full fees will be refunded for the course not provided. Help will be given to find another course or school, which could provide a suitable course.
Refund of homestay fees
a ) If the student moves out of their homestay before the end of their contract, the portion of their homestay fees not already used will be returned to them. The homestay Placement Fee of $150 cannot be refunded.
i) fees are paid to the homestay families two weeks in advance, thus two weeks notice must be given to change or stop using this service.
ii) If a student cancels their homestay arrangement before they move into the homestay, the fees will be refunded in full, less the homestay Placement Fee of $150.
